"In a world as empirical as ours, a youngster who does not know what he is good at will not be sure what he is good for"

-Edgar Friedenberg

MindHub™ is an internet portal that organizes cutting edge information and resources focused on measuring and improving the performance of the human mind and other domains of personal competence. MindHub™ represents a strategic partnership between the Institute for Applied Psychometrics (IAP) and Interactive Metronome®

MindHub™ organizes all web-content related to the goals and objectives of IAP’s Director, Dr. Kevin McGrew. These include research and activities in the area of theories of human intelligence, intelligence test development and interpretation, cognitive and academic performance, personal competencies, and brain-clock based neurotechnologies.  Gateways to MindHub™ strategic alliances are also featured.

IAP is a private research and consulting organization, founded by Dr. Kevin McGrew, devoted to providing bridges between contemporary research and methods in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, education, measurement and statistics and applied problems in psychology, education, human exceptionalities/disabilities, and enhancing cognitive and academic performance.

IAP has particular interests in: (a) theories and measurement of human intelligence, personal competence and adaptive behavior, (b) the application of psychological and educational measurement principles and techniques in the development and interpretation of psychological and educational assessment instruments, (c) the Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) Theory of Cognitive Abilities, (d) narrowing the theory-practice gap in educational and psychological assessment, (c) the influence of non-cognitive characteristics on learning and human performance, (d) psychological assessment practices in the identification and classification of individuals with cognitive and learning disorders, and (e) the application of neurotechnologies to learning and cognitive performance.  The practical application of applied psychometrics is a unique IAP focus.  Additional information about IAP can be found at the IAP web page.

Interactive Metronome® (IM) is IAP’s primary strategic partner in the MindHub™ .

IM is an assessment and treatment tool that is used by therapists, educators, and other professionals to improve the cognitive, motor, and/or academic skills of pediatric and adult patients with neurological conditions that affect timing in the brain (aka., temporal processing). IM provides an objective method for measuring such deficits and for tracking improvement.

IM is an evidence-based, engaging therapeutic modality that improves cognitive and motor skills. The design of the program ensures that individuals recognize progress as it is occurring, thereby increasing their self-efficacy and motivation to achieve goals, which ultimately leads to better overall outcomes.

IM is used to improve:

  • Attention and focus
  • Coordination
  • Language processing
  • Reading and math fluency
  • Control of impulsivity/self-regulation

Until recently, IM treatment had to be done in a clinic, school or hospital setting at least 3 times a week for at least 5 weeks. Busy lives and schedules prevented families from receiving the treatment, so IM-Home was created to allow client’s to train in the comfort of their own home.

Additional detailed information regarding IM and IM-Home is provided at the MindHub™ Neurotechnologies page.
